Tornado Safety Rules
If you're in a house:
» Go into a basement or storm shelter
» Head to the lowest floor
» Find the middle of the house
» Find the smallest room
» Bring a flashlight and battery-powered TV or radio
If you're in an apartment:
» Go to the bottom floor
» Find a small room or hallway
» Go to the east side of the complex
If you are in a mobile home:
» Get out
» Go to a sturdy shelter
» Lie in a ditch or ravine
» Cover your head with your hands
If you are at work or school:
» Go to the bottom floor
» Find the middle of the building
» Go to a designated area or hallway
» Stay out of gyms or auditoriums
If you are in a car:
» Pull over and get out
» Get into a ditch or culvert
» Lie flat and cover your head
» Don't seek shelter under overpasses
