Tulsa native and former Oklahoma State and NBA guard John Starks is once again bringing his foundation's basketball camp to Tulsa.

The boys' camp began Tuesday at the Hutcherson YMCA near Pine and Peoria. The girls' camp is being held at the North Mabee Boys and Girls Club at 30th Street North and Cincinnati.

This is the 13th year for the camps, which teach not only hoops skills, but also work to build kids into the leaders of tomorrow.

The camps run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. this week from Tuesday through Friday.

Starks played high school basketball at Central High and went on to play for the Oklahoma State Cowboys before a 14-year NBA career with the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz, including an All-Star appearance with the Knicks in 1994.

He finished his career 11th on the Knicks' all-time scoring list and was in the top ten in both assists and steals.
