O.S.U. Students Test The iPad

Posted: Updated:

O.S.U. students are taking part in a unique experiment.

Students in select classes will be putting the iPad to the test on the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses.

The idea is to test the iPad's limits and see what kind of impact it can have on all their courses.

For example it may save time and extend the teaching outside the classroom.

The only limits are their imaginations.

Associate Professor Bill Handy says there are a lot of opportunities.

He's using the iPad to allow more time for the exchange of ideas.

Handy prerecorded all of his lectures so the can watch them in advance.

Then they can use class time for debating the real issues, rather than listening to instructor talk.

The iPads can also save the students a lot of money.

They can now download their text books instead of buying the expansive hard-cover volumes.

When the classes are completed they will get to keep their iPads.
