Claremore -
Rogers State University adopts the Claremont Elementary School in Claremore. The new partnership will include tutoring, supply drives and educational and social programs for the elementary students.
Claremont has a special connection to the college. The school is located on the site where RSU was founded 100 years ago.
RSU is launching a new program called "Hillcub." It will include several initiatives including a "lunch buddies" program where RSU students have lunch with Claremont students to encourage them to focus on their studies and prepare for college. RSU student athletes will also instruct Claremont students in basketball, baseball, soccer and other sports. RSU employees will also help at Claremont with tutoring, supply drives and grounds maintenance and building repairs.
Kellye Schuck, principal of Claremont Elementary says, "We are so pleased that RSU reached out to establish this partnership. Our students will benefit from exposure to RSU students and faculty and the assistance programs provided by the university."
