Casey Wellman scored 4:42 into overtime to give the Houston Aeros a 2-1 win over the Oklahoma City Barons Friday night at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
Jean-Michel Daoust opened the scoring in the first period off the pass from Cody Almond. It remained 1-0 until the Barons got on the board on a second period goal from Colin McDonald.
Neither team was able to get the puck in the net during the third period, forcing extra time.
Oklahoma City held a 41-31 lead in shots, but Aeros goalie Matt Hackett stopped 40 shots to keep the Aeros in it. Martin Gerber stopped 29 of 31 shots for the Barons, who slipped to 0-2-1.
Oklahoma City will return to the ice Saturday night at home against Lake Erie.
