Hurtt, Clarkson Lead TU Past Matadors, 80-63

Justin Hurtt scored 20 points and Jordan Clarkson added 19 as Tulsa wrapped up play in the 76 Classic Tournament with an 80-63 win over Cal State Northridge Sunday afternoon in Anaheim, California.

The Golden Hurricane (4-2) never trailed and built an 11-point halftime lead behind Hurtt, who scored 14 of his points in the opening twenty minutes. TU also shot 57-percent from the field.

After the Matadors cut the lead to eight on Allen Jiles' jumper with 15 minutes remaining in the second half, Tulsa responded with a 21-9 run over the next nine minutes to extend the advantage to 20.

Tulsa outrebounded CSN 37-26 and forced 18 turnovers. The Matadors also helped out with ten missed free throws.

Joining Hurtt and Clarkson in double figures for Tulsa was Joe Richard, who had ten points and a team-leading six rebounds.

Cal State Northridge's Lenny Daniel led all scorers with 24 points.

Tulsa gets a week off before their next game Sunday at Arkansas-Little Rock.
