Firefighters Raise Money For Breast Cancer

Tulsa Firefighters Local 176 present a check for $17,000 to Oklahoma Project Woman, a statewide breast cancer organization.

Last year, the Professional Firefighters of Oklahoma adopted a resolution to participate in a "Cares Enough to Wear Pink" campaign in honor of women who battle cancer.  As part of the campaign, Tulsa firefighters designed and sold a pink t-shirt.  Half of the proceeds were donated to OPW and half to the "Fire Fighters Cancer Support Network." More than 3,400 pink t-shirts were sold.

Firefighters wore pink t-shirts on October 25, 26 and 27th to show their support.  Engine 5 was even wrapped in pink vinyl wrapping.

Oklahoma Project Woman provides breast health education, no cost mammography, diagnostic procedures and surgical services for women with no health insurance and limited financial resources.  The organization has helped more than 19,000 women since 1998.
