A Major Return To Winter

The mild weather we’ve been enjoying will be a memory for several days. A series of cold fronts will keep us near or below normal for temperatures as highs will be in the 40s and 30s with lows in the 20s and 10s. Wind chills during the day will be in the 20s and then drop into the teens at night.

Along with the parade of cold shots will be a few chances for cold rain or snow. The best chance for precipitation will be Wednesday with other chances between Sunday night and next Wednesday. It will be very cold with a chance for light snow on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. There is even the hint of a major blast of arctic air by next Tuesday and Wednesday which could keep us in the 20s during the day.

Will all that said, it’s obvious we’ll need to keep the heavy coats, scarves and gloves handy for the rest of this month!

Well, it looks like we will be without any significant snowfall this year. I love snow. Guess I'll have to move farther North! Darn global warming. We still have a slight chance for some measurable parcipitation don't we? I can't remember the last time we went all winter without any snows that were more than a dusting but here we are. Is this some sort of record for lack of snowfall?

Highway 62 from Okmulgee to Morris is a solid sheet of ice. People were passing me and losing control going into ditches and several very near misses. There are no clear areas of road on Highway 62. I work in Muskogee and my route is 62 from Okmulgee, thru Morris, Wainwright, then North on Highway 69, and the further East I went on 62....the worse it got. I turned around at Morris and went back home. JUST WASN'T WORTH IT even though I was driving slow, I had all the other drivers that were at the verge of being out of control to deal with.

I can,t understand how the wind chill is lower than the actual temperature. Tahlequah always shows the wind chill 2 degrees above the actual.
