It’s happened again. We went from enjoying spring-like weather to
not enjoying winter weather in a matter of hours.
Temperatures through last weekend were in the 70s which will turn out to be a godsend because the ground will be too warm to allow a lot of snow to stick. Still, as this latest winter storm moves across the area Monday into Tuesday, snow could fall fast enough to form some accumulations especially on grassy surfaces and bridges and overpasses.
As much as 2 to 3 inches per hour of heavy wet snow could fall across southeast Oklahoma mainly south of I-44 and close to I-40. A total of 3 to 6 inches could accumulate in those areas. As far as northeastern Oklahoma including Tulsa, 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible.
The storm system will move away during the day Tuesday, but areas that result in snow on the ground will stay rather cold. Also watch out for wet areas freezing overnight resulting in slick spots for your Tuesday morning drive.
