Is this Spring or Winter?

I hope you've had the chance to enjoy our unusually warm weather. We've had record setting daytime highs in the 70s and very mild overnight lows in the 50s and 60s. This all occurring on typically the coldest month of the year.

That's all about to come to an end as a series of cold fronts will move through the area this week, but not without springlike storms and chances for rain.

The storm system that's been keeping us very warm and windy the last few days and has drenched the west coast will finally move through and open the door for much cooler weather. We will return to highs in the 50s and 40s and lows in the 30s which for the most part are still above normal.

I don't know if you saw when I showed the long range forecast for the rest of winter, but it calls for above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation. So we'll see.

In the meantime what you think of these warm readings? Do you like them or do you prefer typical cold January weather? Personally I prefer the cold for now so I can wear my new Raiders jacket I got for Christmas! Let me hear from you!

Someone that wishes for cold weather so he can wear a (Raiders jacket) must be a weather man that works inside!! :)

Michael,

We had the re-broadast information on our website home page on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is also reflected in our programming schedule on the website. Dance Wars was aired today from 3-5 p.m. and October Road is Sunday from 2-3 p.m.

Thanks Kevin

I don't have a problem with running a weather trailer across the bottom when there is severe weather but cutting into programming every 5 minutes to say its still storming is ridiculous. Or if you are going to stay on the air say so early and then POST when the missed shows will be aired. This is why I usually change to subscription channel that doesn't have the stupid interruptions.

My wife just asked me about DanceWars and October Road and of course there is nothing on the website that I can find that says the aired or will be reaired.

Hope you enjoyed the day for your birthday on the 9th. Nice to have those sunny days without too much wind. Our Old Glory enjoyed the rest the other day and she is calm today.

I think your covereage of the storms Monday night was probably with the best of intentions. However, it was too much coverage. I think you would have been better off to run a streaming feed and cut in on commercial breaks. Is it possible to keep a live feed streaming on the website when storms are in the area? That way people can watch as they need/want to rather than getting all upset over lost programming. Just some thoughts.

Brad
I don't know why people value various materials over good quality flesh and blood. Even though you can't stop the weather. You can prevent sensless death by early warning and non-stop coverage. Just because last night was the first episode of Dance Wars doesn't give everyone the right to judge you and say you're wrong by trying to save lives. Maybe they need to stop, take a step back and look at the big picture. One you're doing your job, and two you're doing what you love because you wouldn't be a meteorologist if you didn't. Thanks for all of your hard work.

I know what you mean by the Spinglike Storms. I live in Siloam Springs, AR and it seemed as if the sirens were blowing for at least 2 hours straight yesterday.

Fox 23 had no choice but the air the game. I heard Frank say today that there were more than 50 tornado warnings last night. I'm sure if one of those warnings resulted in a tornado heading towards the house of one of those complaining they wouldn't care so much about a dance show, and they wouldn't know about it if they were watching a football game. I'd rather watch a station that cares enough to stay on if my life is in danger. Thank you Channel 8.

No, it was way too much coverage. It just wasnt necessary to have a live, continuous conversation about your thoughts on the entire weather patterns, forcasts, etc. I bet fox 23 had had higher ratings last night...they did a great job keeping us informed without the three hour, nonstop talk, play by play on the storm.

I very much appreciate being informed of the weather during circumstances such as last night. People are SO SELFISH and think that if it's not happening in their area, then it doesn't matter! The people who are complaining about missing your programing should be ashamed of yourselves!!! You should thank God that Channel 8 cares enough to keep people informed. I always know that no matter what, Channel 8 will keep me informed and keep my family safe! Thank you Guys!

Great coverage of the storms last night! Don't worry about all the people whining that they missed their shows. These are same people you see crying on the national news after something does happen that there was never any warning.

Kelly
My grandfather who was a farmer in Arkansas could almost always predict the weather by watching the animals in the morning, but in the winter he had a saying that I think holds true this year. He would say ? Thunder in December a January to remember. I do believe that we won?t soon forget this last December or this January.

Chris, do you realize you are telling people who are in the path of these storms that the show you want to watch is more imporant than weather information that could provide useful, if not live-saving for them? But, I guess you guys in Tulsa think you're more important than us down here in the 'sticks' anyway, huh?

Dance Wars, Dance Wars, Dance Wars, Dance Wars, Dance Wars, Dance Wars, Dance Wars......................Seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you going to follow this storm and show all the pictures to St. Louis? Get off the air and let the new program DANCE WAR on. This long drawn out warning is un-necessary, good grief, everyone has already taken cover, come out perfect condition and have milk with cookies. I quess you know you are now on the lowest level in popularity with the consumers.

jessi
First, sorry people can be so rude when they're frustrated. Thank you for working so hard. A little less play by play would be nice. Maybe you guys can just break in and keep us updated with the old way of beeping audio warning with a scroll at the bottom of the screen and occasional live breaks?thanks again for your hard work and efforts.

While you give excellent coverage on the weather, isn't it possible to still cut in and out while continueing regular programming. Even though I live in Muskogee, I appreciate your coverage, I would still like to see programming. Just cut in and out. As the public, we look for: Where it is...Where it's going, when will it get here...is there a warning... All the in between stuff is when we could have programming. I'm not trying to be disrepectful. I'm in the bad weather area. I appreciate your coverage. When it's been a stressful day, and you look forward to a program that is only on ch. 8 it gets frustrating.

Chris
Did you realize that you are keeping my family from seeing our son, grandson, brother sister etc. on Dance Wars because we have a meteorologist that thinks his toys are more important that anything else. The National Championship game is not more important than this and i can assure you that this is way more important than that to my family.

Rest assured I will tell everyone I know to never watch your crappy weather and news again.
