There’s never a good time to have a surgery, but this is especially true if you are a chief meteorologist wanting to cover the first snowstorm of the year. I had my gallbladder taken out on Tuesday afternoon and was suppose to spend the week home in bed, but as it looked more and more like we were going to get accumulating snow on Thursday I felt the obligation and desire to be at work. Therefore, to the surprise of my coworkers I dragged myself out of bed and came in to cover the storm. I must admit I was in a lot of pain. In fact most of my coverage was done sitting down while my guys Clint and Taft took care of the live shots and weather wall duties. Although I’m sure my management appreciated that I was here, they knew I wasn’t feeling good and encouraged me to go home. So when the storm was over I took their advice and went home to bed. Ironically the last time I covered bad weather which was Jan. 7th, when we had 6 tornadoes touchdown I was having a full blown gallbladder attack. It would be nice to cover severe weather without being in pain. Still, anytime we have threatening weather such as snow, ice or t-storms I’m going to be the one you can rely on for coverage you can count on regardless of how I feel!
