Complaints about potholes in the roads and bridges you drive on have inspired a political campaign. One groups wants to stop the state from using transportation money for other things. Oklahoma has a nine-billion dollar backlog of road repairs. But, it doesn't help when half the money in the transportation fund ended up detoured for something other than fixing streets.
We learned that 500-million transportation dollars were diverted last year. That's money that could have fixed a lot of roads.

Kell Kelly is with the TRUST Coalition, which is trying to lock up funding for road repairs by drawing a picture of just how bad Oklahoma's bridges are.
"When we talk about the Minneapolis bridge collapse, one of the things that we don't always talk about is the fact that the I-244 bridge here in Tulsa is much less structurally sound than the bridge that actually collapsed," Kelly says.
Florence Tranum lives in Tulsa and is aware of the obstacle course in her neighborhood. But, she didn't know about the money that's earmarked to get it done -- 450-million dollars of which are diverted on average each year.
That's money members of the TRUST Coalition say is desperately needed for its original purpose.
"One example, there was a portion of the fuel tax that was diverted for several years to pay for a weather school at OU," says Crystal Drwenski. "And, we're not trying to pick a fight, but these are the types of examples that you can see."
The TRUST Coalition has completed a website and wants you to pass along your opinion to the Governor. You can find that site by going to http://www.restoretrust.org.
