North Tulsa - A 15-year-old boy is clinging to life after being shot in the head.

It happened in the 46-hundred block of North Elgin at about 9 p.m. Sunday night. The boy was one of several gathered at a home where an adult was talking to them about gang violence.

Police say this was the third time in recent months that the home has been hit. The first time was September sixth, then again on December 29th. They say the suspect in Sunday night's shooting was standing at the corner and fired shots into the home. A dozen shots in all were fired. One of them hit 15-year-old Kordero Coleman in the head. He was rushed to a Tulsa hospital and is in critical condition.

Many are now wondering where to go from here.

Reverend Cornelius Potter is pastor at Antioch Church. He's deeply concerned about gang violence and is among a group of North Tulsa pastors who makes visits to kids caught up in gangs.

"And, the more people we can connect, the more people we can talk with we can try to change their direction, the better things are going to become," Potter says.

Potter says churches have to reach behind the walls. Kids need mentors and help in building their self esteem.

"A lot of these kids are not the hardcore, who we think, kids who are caught up and don't want to be there, but want something different, but don't know how to go about getting it."

Last night, gang violence happened on North Elgin. But, it can happen anywhere.

"It's not a north Tulsa problem," says Tulsa Police Spokesperson Leland Ashley. "And, it's going to take the community going to take the police, us all together involved."

Pastors like Reverend Potter are encouraging others to get involved.

"If you just have love for young people, period, you don't want to see them losing, like they're losing dying in the streets like they're dying."

Antioch Church has adopted a nearby school and holds summer programs to help kids turn their lives around.

The suspect in last night's shooting remains on the run. Anyone with information that could help lead police to the suspect is urged to contact Tulsa police at 596-COPS. You can remain anonymous and earn a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest in the case.
