Tulsa - The Oral Roberts University Presidential Search Committee has its eyes on a Florida president to serve as successor to Richard Roberts.
Dr. Mark Rutland is currently President at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. He also founded and serves as president of Global Servants, a missions organization that has been in service since 1977.
The move comes a day after the school announced that 100 employees will be laid off in March.
Last week, members of the ORU Presidential Search Committee met and chose Rutland as candidate to succeed Richard Roberts, who resigned as President in November 2007 amid allegations that he misspent school funds to live a luxurious lifestyle.
Rutland is expected to visit Tulsa later this month to attend Board meetings and meet with several school representatives.
It's uncertain when the Board of Trustees would vote on whether to officially offer Rutland the job.
