Prue - The town of Prue can relax now. A man who was on the run from authorities after allegedly firing a shot during a domestic dispute has been arrested.
Osage County sheriff's officials say Roy Mills called the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and surrendered this afternoon. He has since been handed over to the sheriff's office and will be taken to the county jail in Pawhuska.
The entire town of Prue was virtually cut off from the outside world while Mills was on the run Wednesday.
Authorities say Mills and his girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute and at some point, Mills fired a shot into the floor of a mobile home. The girlfriend was able to escape and call police.
Mills was believed to be armed with an SKS assault rifle and because of the close proximity of the home to Prue High School, the school was locked down. Students were later escorted by Osage County authorities to a nearby convenience store where their parents could pick them up.
During the search for Mills, roads in and out of Prue were closed down. Students did not attend school on Thursday because he was still on the loose.
But officials say Mills returned to the home Thursday afternoon and called the OHP to give himself up.
