Oklahoma City - A bill in the State House seeks to make some slight alterations to the state flag.
House Bill 2230 was recently approved by the House International Relations and Tourism Committee by a vote of 7-to-4.
It would modify the flag -- italicizing the word "Oklahoma", printing the letters at an angle and adding an exclamation point after the letters.
Ponca City Representative Ken Luttrell opposes the changes.
"The Oklahoma flag simply does not need to be changed as we enter our second hundred years of statehood," he said. "Today's children are proud to be Oklahomans and identify our flag as it is."
Luttrell also added that the flag is a point of pride for his community. The flag was designed by Ponca City native Louise Fluke.
