A 71-year-old Vinita man has died after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 60 in Ottawa County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Phillip W. Briggs died in the accident, which happened about 4:40 p.m. on Saturday about two miles west of Wyandotte.
Troopers say a pickup driven by 80-year-old Bob Ray Hamilton of Bartlesville was eastbound and went left of center, striking a westbound car driven by Briggs.

Briggs died at the scene. His passenger, 71-year-old Lula Briggs of Vinita, was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Joplin, Mo. She was pinned in the wreckage for about 15 minutes.
Hamilton was taken to a Miami hospital in fair condition.
