Animal welfare and police officers seized 28 horses and four dogs from property in far northeast Norman after receiving a report of possible neglected animals.
Police Capt. Leonard Judy says officers responding to the call found horses in various stages of malnutrition and neglect on Tuesday, as well as two dead horses.
Specimens were taken for analysis from the dead horses. Judy says the goal is to see to the welfare of the horses and any other animals that may be on the property.
Police say the owner of the animals was present and offered no resistance to their being taken into custody, but no arrests were made.
Officers say the investigation is ongoing.
