A tornado watch has been issued for much of central and northeastern Oklahoma, including Tulsa County.
The watch runs until 10 p.m. Monday night and includes the following counties in northeastern Oklahoma: Craig, Creek, Osage, Nowata, Pawnee, Payne, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington.
Some thunderstorms had already formed across far northern Oklahoma earlier in the day. Those storms and others are expected to continue to increase in strength later this afternoon.
The primary threats from the storms will be from strong, straight-line winds and large hail, but isolated tornadoes will not be out of the question as well, especially north of Interstate 44.
A chance for storms will continue into Tuesday before leaving behind much colder temperatures for the rest of the work week. High temperatures Wednesday through Saturday will be in the low to mid 50s.
Another chance for showers and storms will enter the picture by the weekend.
