The number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas rose nationwide while declining in Oklahoma this week.
Houston-based Baker Hughes says the number of active rigs in the United States increased by 22 but the number in Oklahoma dropped by seven.
Of the other major oil- and gas-producing states Texas gained 23 rigs, New Mexico added four, Wyoming three and Alaska two.
California is down by one while the numbers in Colorado and Louisiana remained unchanged from the previous week.
Baker Hughes has tracked rig counts since 1944.
