Tulsa - Do you have a burning question about Tulsa you'd like to ask community leaders? It could be anything from how the city spends its money to downtown development. Those are some of the topics that will be talked about at a public forum this evening.
The forum is hosted by the grass roots organization Tulsa Now and is taking place at the Tulsa Community College Northeast Campus, located at 3727 East Apache.
One of the big topics is the continued lack of grocery stores for the north side of town. The Albertson's at Pine and Cincinnati closed nearly two years ago. Now, residents have to drive north to Turley to find one.
That's a hot button issue residents say they want to know an answer for. Why are there no grocery stores and what is the city doing about it.
"You can't walk to a grocery store, you can't ride a bus to a grocery store. There's no grocery store in North Tulsa."
"Albertson's is closed down," says Billy Joe. "I wished they'd get together the community and talk to somebody and we could get a store going on in this area."
Other topics sure to be discussed tonight -- potholes on the north side. Forum Organizer Scott Grizzle says the idea came out of a want to keep residents in the know about the city.
"We're having both speakers and we're also having a panel involving some people who are already working in North Tulsa.
This evening's forum will be geared toward North Tulsa. But residents in other parts of the city will get their chance, too. Tulsa Now plans on hosting three more forums, one for each part of town.
