Norman, OK - Oklahoma offensive tackle Phil Loadholt was selected in the 2009 NFL Draft by Minnesota. He was the 22nd pick of the second round, the 54th overall. Loadholt is the first Sooner tackle drafted since Jammal Brown (New Orleans, first round) in 2005.
This marks the third straight year that an Oklahoma player, who came to OU from the junior college ranks, was drafted. The previous two were RB Allen Patrick (Baltimore, seventh round, 2008) and DE C.J. Ah You (Buffalo, eighth round, 2007).
Loadholt is the 36th OU player drafted since Bob Stoops became the Sooners’ head coach. Twenty-two of those have been taken in the first three rounds.

Iglesias is the 24th Oklahoma player drafted by the Chicago Bears, the fifth in Bob Stoops’ 10-year tenure. The Bears last drafted a Sooner wide receiver in 2005 when they took Mark Bradley in the second round.
The run of Sooner receivers in the draft continues as Iglesias is the seventh to be selected during the Stoops era, the sixth since 2005.
Iglesias is the 37th OU player drafted since Bob Stoops became the Sooners’ head coach. Twenty-three of those have been taken in the first three rounds.
Before this year’s draft, there were 32 former Sooners on NFL rosters. Iglesias will join former OU players Dusty Dvoracek and Tommie Harris, both defensive tackles, on the Bears’ roster.
Oklahoma’s total of drafted players is up to five in the 2009 draft.
S Nic Harris was taken in the fifth round (149th pick overall) by the Buffalo Bills.
Primarily a defensive back at Oklahoma, Harris is projected as a linebacker by the Bills.
Harris is the third Oklahoma player drafted by the Bills, the first since 2006 when the franchise took DE C.J. Ah You.
Harris is the ninth DB to be drafted from the Sooners program under Bob Stoops, the fourth to be taken out of the safety position.
OG Duke Robinson was taken in the fifth round (163rd pick overall) by the Carolina Panthers.
Became the first player drafted out of Oklahoma by Carolina. That leaves only one NFL team that has not drafted a Sooner – the Houston Texans.
Robinson is the seventh offensive lineman drafted from Oklahoma in Bob Stoops’ 10 seasons with the Sooners, the second in this draft after Phil Loadholt was taken in the second round.
WR Manuel Johnson was taken in the seventh round (229th pick overall) by the Dallas Cowboys.
The ninth Oklahoma player taken by Dallas, Johnson was the second wide receiver drafted out of the Sooner program this year. Juaquin Iglesias went to the Bears in the third round.
