It was just before 6 a.m. on a Sunday and the family was asleep in their home.
"The wife was held up stairs with two of the robbers and the husband is taken around the house," says Detective Dave Walker.
They took jewelry, electronics and cards, including a gift card to Best Buy, which the victim called the store about later the same day.
"The victim made a phone call to the store. The manager of that store and said 'well, you know, 'it just so happens that there's somebody here trying to use that card.'"
Police went to the store and talked to the man, Deandre Washington, who is now charged with receiving stolen property.
Another man, Kevin Goudeau, is charged with the same crime. Police say they traced a phone call from Goudeau to the victims offering to sell their computer back to them.
His story is that he bought a computer and then realized it was stolen, but was willing to sell it back to the owner.
The men have not been charged for breaking into the home, but, police say, the recent developments may lead to more.
"I can't imagine what it would be like to have people hanging over you with weapons especially with kids in the house," says Jake Thompson, a neighbor. Thompson says his sense of security was shaken by the crime.
"You know when we had this house re-done, we had an alarm system put in I think mostly for looks and - I hate to say this, but before we never used it. Now its definitely a nightly thing."
Detectives are looking into the robbers were casing the neighborhood a few days earlier.
