Storm spotters reported several tornadoes, injuries and lots of damage from storms that raked across eastern Oklahoma Saturday afternoon.
The first tornado was reported at 5:22 p.m. about two miles southwest of McAlester. A minute later, it was spotted three miles southeast of Crowder.
About ten minutes later, another tornado touched down in Ottawa County, about two miles north-northwest of Commerce. The tornado continued east and was reported near Quapaw at 5:39 p.m.
At 6:10 p.m., another tornado was reported on the ground 14 miles southwest of Clayton in Pushmataha County. At 6:15, fire and rescue in Latimer County reported a structure was destroyed by a tornado near Yanush.
NewsChannel 8 storm chaser Mike Scantlin reported multiple injuries and lots of damage in the town of Racine, which is in far southwestern Missouri near Joplin. It's believed that it's the same storm that produced the tornado in Ottawa County.
If you are in the path of these storms, take cover NOW. Get to the smallest room on the lowest floor or underground shelter and stay away from windows.
If you live in a mobile home, you should find more substantial shelter. Also, if you are in a car, get out and find the lowest ground you can find and lie flat with your hands covering your head.
