Oklahoma City police say a man who allegedly shot a police officer and held them at bay for 10 hours violated a protective order filed against him by his mother.
According to a police report, the mother of 55-year-old John Ivory Thomas called police around 7:50 a.m. Thursday about a domestic disturbance at a residence on Northeast 9th Street.
Investigators allege Thomas fired shots at Sergeant Clay Williams and another police officer as they responded to the call.
Williams was struck in the shoulder, but was released from a local hospital before the standoff ended.
Thomas remains in custody without bail at the Oklahoma County jail on multiple complaints, including shooting with intent to kill.
