Bill Gates set up the Gates Millenium Scholar program in 1999. Since that time, thousands of scholarships have been awarded to students around the country.
Ashley Nixon is a Gates Scholar who plans to attend the University of Oklahoma this fall. She is also an accomplished writer, recently having a short story published.
