We've all heard about the devastating cyclone in Myanmar. Now a group of Tulsa doctors is heading to that country to help.
The military can't get into Myanmar and ministries can't get in. But, a group of family practice doctors from Tulsa is going. We caught up with the doctors Friday morning at Tulsa International Airport.
The group says they won't likely get to the hardest hit areas, but they do plan on being a blessing to the patients they do see.
"The people are suffering and the majority of the people in any country that I've been in they want help, they're open to help," says Dr. Mitchell Duininck. "Unfortunately, some of the governments and people in control that dominate the countries aren't as concerned about the people as they are their own power and control, so, here's a situation where the door has cracked open a little bit and we're going to walk on through."
The 13-member medical team consists of residents with In His Image, which is a medical ministry. The equipment they're using was donated by OSU Medical Center and Hillcrest Medical Center.
