A Caddo County judge sentences a Cement man to life in prison without parole for the strangulation death of his mother.
District Judge Richard Van Dyck found 48-year-old James Randall Gibson guilty in March of the April 2007 killing of 78-year-old Opal Jean Gibson. James Gibson was formally sentenced yesterday.
Investigators say James Gibson used a terry cloth bathrobe belt and hand weight as a tourniquet to strangle his mother.
Afterward, authorities say he used her car and checks from her bank account to take another woman to Oklahoma City. He was arrested and returned to Caddo County.
Gibson's lawyers have filed an appeal.
