Norman - For years Barry Switzer has been recognized for his contributions to Oklahoma football, the players and the wins. But now, the legendary coach is getting honored for what he's given off the field.
Switzer has been named as the recipient of the 2009 John F. Kennedy Community Service Award. The award is given by the Oklahoma Council Knights of Columbus.
Switzer has been involved in numerous charities over the years, but is most recognizable for his work in helping promote the Special Olympics of Oklahoma.
