The filings to run for political offices in Oklahoma slowed today on the second day of the three-day filing period.
Fewer than 10 candidates have filed today after 185 filed yesterday including Senator Jim Inhofe and all five Oklahoma U.S. Representatives.
Inhofe will have opposition for the Republican nomination as part-time Baptist preacher Dennis Lopez of Thackerville and Evelyn Rogers of Tulsa each filed to challenge him. State Senator Andrew Rice filed as a Democrat for Inhofe's Senate seat.
Republican U.S. Representatives John Sullivan, Frank Lucas, Tom Cole and Mary Fallin and Democrat Dan Boren also filed for re-election.
Democrat Georgianna Oliver filed to run against Sullivan; Democrat Frankie Robbins filed to run for Lucas' seat; and Democrat Bert Smith filed to oppose Fallin.
All 101 seats in the state House are also up for election this fall as are 24 of the 48 seats in the state Senate and two spots on the state Corporation Commission.
The filing period continues until tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m.
