The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has
set an execution date for a Coal County man convicted in the 1991
killing of his 11-year-old niece.
The court on Friday set a Sept. 25 execution date for
52-year-old Jessie James Cummings.
Cummings was convicted of first-degree murder for the deaths of
his 42-year-old sister Judy Ann Moody Mayo and her daughter,
11-year-old Melissa Moody. An appeals court later reversed
Cumming's conviction for Mayo's murder.

Edmondson requested the execution date earlier this month after
the U.S. Supreme Court denied Cumming's final appeal of his
conviction.
Oklahoma already has executed one death row inmate this year -
and Kevin Young is scheduled to die July 22 for a 1996 killing in
Oklahoma City.
