Oklahoma City, OK -
(AP) Two of Oklahoma's regional colleges have joined the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University in pledging not to seek tuition increases for the coming school year.
Officials from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva say those schools will maintain their current tuition rates.
Southwestern now charges in-state students $137 per tuition hour, while in-state Northwestern students pay $116.25. Both colleges are governed by Regional University System of Oklahoma regents.
Northwestern President Janet Cunningham says faculty and staff at the school will forgo across-the-board salary increases for the third straight year and make strategic cuts in operational budgets to keep the tuition-freeze pledge.
