Tulsa - The National Weather Service
(web | news) Office in Tulsa has issued a Flash Flood Watch for much of eastern Oklahoma.
The watch, which is in effect until Wednesday afternoon, includes 16 counties in northeast Oklahoma and 4 counties in northwest Arkansas. Areas to the south of I-40 are not currently included in the watch.
Tonight, heavy rains continue to increase in aerial coverage and in intensity as a strong, late season, cold front moves into northern Oklahoma.
The small town of Foraker, in northern Osage County, saw over an inch of rain in one hours time tonight.
Before all is said and done, widespread 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected across much of the area. In excess of 3 inches is possible in isolated areas.
The cold front and associated storms should be east of the region by late tomorrow morning. Setting the stage or a cool and windy Wednesday.
If you are in the watch area make sure you know your risk of flooding and have a plan of action ready should waters begin to rise.
Travelers should always avoid crossing water covered roadways.
