Mayor Taylor Won't Seek Second Term

During the announcement Taylor said she wanted to take politics out of the equation as a reason for not seeking a second term. She said political campaigns often cloud decision making.
She says, "I'm a business person. In these economic times, Tulsa faces tough choices. My focus must be on running the city, not running for election. I've decided not to run for re-election."
Taylor promised before leaving her seat she would focus on making Tulsa a leaner more transparent government.
As for her future after Mayor, Taylor said she hasn't made any plans beyond her term.
A commercial with Mayor Taylor announcing her decision is slated to run on NewsChannel 8 Friday night at 6pm.
The primary election is scheduled for September 8 and the general election is November 10.
