Oklahoma City, OK - The Oklahoma Lottery is expected to generate $2.5 million less in education revenue next year due to
the slumping economy and a new lottery in neighboring Arkansas.

The lottery's board adopted a $180.9 million budget on Tuesday for the fiscal year that begins July 1. It includes a projected
$66.7 million in revenue for public education in the state and about $101.7 in prize payouts.

Lottery Commission Executive Director James Scroggins says that this year, the lottery will meet its projected $69.2 million
contribution to public education in spite of the faltering economy.

Scroggins says revenue is expected to decline next year due to the economy and the new Arkansas Lottery, which is expected to
begin near the end of the year.

Well,  that is 69.2 million that  our public education system would not have had if not for the lottery....and, in my humble opinion, that ain't exactly loose change.
