Bartlesville - A charge of impersonating a police officer against a former Bartlesville reserve police officer has
been dismissed.
A Washington County judge ruled that 39-year-old Eric Dean Evans had broken no law.
Evans was charged in May after flashing a police badge to try to stop a woman who was driving on U.S. 75 near Ramona April 1.
The woman said Evans drove away when a man who was sleeping in the car with her sat up.
Special Judge John Gerkin said that Evans was a lawfully commissioned reserve officer at the time with a lawfully issued
badge - therefore he wasn't falsely impersonating an officer.
Gerkin added that Evans' conduct violated regulations and left him subject to disciplinary action.
Evans was fired after the incident.
