Glenpool - A pilot makes an emergency landing in Glenpool.
It went down in a field near 181st and Yale around 8:45 Sunday night.
The pilot and his son were heading for Jones Riverside Airport in Jenks. But he could not make it that far, because of mechanical problems.
The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in a field in Glenpool. It appears everyone made it out safely. So that is certainly good news.
The pilot's son, Jonathon Mayoza, says, "We just kept losing altitude. So my Dad said we'd have to make an emergency landing. I think we hit a fence or two. But we made it out safely."
It's unclear what caused the problem. The pilot did a test flight before taking his son up, and everything checked out okay at the time.
