A Lawton man originally facing a first-degree murder charge in a fatal shooting has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
Jackie Antonio Duncan Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony count of pointing a firearm. The 21-year-old Duncan had been charged with first-degree murder in the February 2007 shooting death of 19-year-old Quinton Pritchett.
Police say the shooting stemmed from a planned fight between two rival gangs in Lawton. Pritchett was shot while riding in a car, prompting a shootout with a second vehicle.
Comanche County First Assistant District Attorney Bill Riley says prosecutors struggled to find witnesses who would cooperate with their investigation and could be considered credible.
Riley says he is not happy with the plea deal, but believes justice was served to the extent possible under the circumstances.
