An Oologah man has been ordered to spend life in prison for the 2006 killing of his wife.
Rogers County District Judge J. Dwayne Steidly gave 44-year-old John Randall Scharmacher the sentence on Wednesday, allowing him the possibility of parole.
Scharmacher was convicted in May on charges of first-degree murder, trafficking illegal drugs and operating a surveillance camera and possessing a firearm while committing a felony. The three additional sentences will add 13 years to his prison time.
Scharmacher was accused of killing his wife, Janice, in August 2006 and then trying to recruit one of his friends to help dispose of her body.
His friend turned Scharmacher in and testified against him at his trial. Police found Janice Scharmacher's body wrapped in one tarp and covered by another at the couple's home in rural Oologah.
