Tulsa County deputies are investigating several cases of animal abuse involving dogs that have been burned with acid or some other type of chemical.
In all, five dogs have been found at three locations. And, so far, two of the animals have died. Investigators call the abuse itself shocking. One of the dogs had to be euthanized. Three remain.
Winston, a fawn-colored boxer is one of the survivors. Laura Kyle with the Tulsa Boxer Rescue says her group now has the dog in the care of a local veterinarian. She says in spite of savage burns, Winston is still a friendly dog. The abuse upsets her.

"Why would someone do this," she asks. "Was it some kid that thought it was fun or was it some adult that thought it was fun? This was terror. I cannot imagine anyone hurting an animal like this."
The other two surviving dogs are at the Tulsa animal shelter.
"We know that they were burned," says Deputy David Long. "Whether it was some kind of acid or some kind of accelerant that was poured on them, we're not sure."
They are sure of one thing -- that it wasn't an accident -- because the burns are all in the same area, down the middle of the back of each animal.
"They're different ages and so in that instance, we're figuring more abuse than an accident, that they got into something chemical."
Investigators say abuse like this is a felony. And, if a person is found guilty, they could face anywhere from five to ten years in prison.
