Police department officials say an officer
who has been placed on administrative leave after shooting a
teenager acted appropriately when he investigated gunshots at an
apartment complex in Warr Acres.
Police Capt. Steve McCool says the officer went to the apartment
complex to make sure nobody needed any help until a Warr Acres
police officer could arrive.
Authorities say 18-year-old Daryl Ray Wilson was shot Saturday
evening in an apartment complex parking in the northwestern
Oklahoma City suburb. McCool says Officer Grant Brooks shot Wilson
once in the head.

Wilson remains at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, but
hospital officials would not confirm he is there and police
officials would not disclose his condition.
McCool says Brooks, who has been with the department for about a
year, was responding to an unrelated call when he heard gunshots in
rapid succession a block away. Witnesses indicated the shots came
from apartments within the Warr Acres city limits.
