A heat advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday evening for several counties in northeastern Oklahoma.
The counties included in the advisory are: Creek, Nowata, Osage, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington.
Heat index values of 105 are expected this afternoon and again on Thursday afternoon as air temperatures are expected to near or top 100 degrees.

Those temperatures combined with high humidity levels will create conditions that will make heat illness possible, especially to the elderly, young children and those with medical conditions.
Residents in the advisory area are urged to drink plenty of fluids, especially water, and avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages, which dehydrate the body.
Also, stay in an air conditioned room if possible, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
The heat advisory may be upgraded to an excessive heat warning as the temperatures over the weekend are expected to be even hotter.
