A Tulsa doctor accused of molesting a female relative was also accused of inappropriate sexual contact during his residency program in Missouri.

Dr. Kirk Michael Smith was arrested Saturday on suspicion of lewd molestation of a minor and forcible sodomy.

The Iowa Board of Medical Examiners denied Smith's application for a license in November 2001.

The board cited allegations of inappropriate contact with female patients during a little more than a year at a residency program in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was later accepted into the University of Iowa's residency program after undergoing treatment with a psychiatrist.

Smith said he was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder which made him rigid and focused during exams and made female patients uncomfortable and caused them to "misinterpret" what he was doing.

Smith is now free on $200,000 bond.

First off let me start by saying I do not condone what the Doctor has been accused of. However, does it give the right to the TV station to go to his home and subject his family invasion into their personal lifes? I applaud whoever answered the door and slammed it shut in the reports face. I have to wonder why they didn't follow the same line of questioning to get the facts of the story when one of their own was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. You know let's be fair and cover all the news the same way whether it is someone in your own "TV family" or the medical field.

Let's report the facts Channel 8 afterall isn't it about the coverage? Let's return the news to being news and not tabloid TV!
