Tulsa - This June was the hottest in Tulsa since 1990, records show.
The average high temperature in Tulsa for the month of June was 91.7 degrees. That's nearly four degrees warmer than the average June and is the hottest since 1990, when the average high temperature was 92 degrees.
Tulsa's temperature climbed past 100 degrees five straight days and hit 99 two other times. It was the first time since 1994 that a 100-degree day had been recorded in the city during the month of June.
While 1990 was hotter, there were no 100-degree days recorded in June of that year. However, the temperature was at 90 or above for 23 days.
The heat kept EMSA crews in Tulsa busy. In June, paramedics provided treatment to 95 patients for heat-related illness, including 71 who had to be taken to hospitals.
Seven Heat Alerts were issued by EMSA to warn the public of the dangers.
