Tulsa - Two people had to be rescued from the Arkansas River Thursday morning after the water began rising, forcing them onto a sandbar.
It happened near the low water dam. The water began rising and they were forced to find higher ground. The sandbar they were on continued to shrink in size and a rescue boat was sent to get them, but rescuers were having trouble themselves getting to the area.
Finally, the boat was able to make it to them and take them to safety.
It's unclear why the people were in the river.
