A Kiefer family is in a race against time to save the life of a ten-year-old boy.
Logan Holt looks like a typical 4th grader, baseball and football are just a few of his favorite activities. However, now those activities that are off limits. Because of Logan's heart disease, he cannot throw, jump or run.
"It's anomolous right coronary. His right coronary artery developed at the one oclock position instead of the ten o'clock, and increased blood flow to the heart could crush his artery and that would mean sudden death," said Ashley Jones, Logan's aunt.
Simply put, Logan's right coronary artery did not develop properly. To make matters worse, there is not a single doctor in Oklahoma that can help. The closest the famliy could find is in Boston, Massachusetts.
"It's been a very rough battle. He understands on one hand, but on the other he's very confused and he's scared," said Jones.
Logan meanwhile is trying to figure things out as best he can, but it is difficult for a 10-year-old.
"Blah, blah, blah. I cannot understand doctors. They have a different language," said Logan.
Keeping Logan still while pursing treatment has been most difficult of all. The family is trying to raise enough money to pay for it all. Logan has insurace, but it will not be enough. They have raised over $3000 so far and will need more.
A local business is also helping. The Rib Crib near 51st and Sheridan will donate 10 percent of sales after 4p.m. on Friday, August 29th, to help Logan's family with medical expenses.
Donations can also be made to the Logan Hold Fund, care of First United Bank, which is on Main Street in Sapulpa.
