The city of Tulsa and the Tulsa Drillers have agreed to extend negotiations on a lease agreement to move the team to a new park downtown.

This is the fourth extension since Mayor Kathy Taylor and Drillers owner Chuck Lamson announced in January they had entered into exclusive negotiations.

Lamson had begun talking with a riverfront developer in Jenks about a year ago but the agreement with the city stopped those talks.

The announcement of the extension with the city does not say if the talks remain exclusive.

Taylor has proposed a 60 million dollar project that includes construction of a multipurpose baseball stadium and the redevelopment of land surrounding the stadium.

The stadium is to be built in the historic Greenwood District that's the site of the 1921 Tulsa race riots.
