The grand opening of the BOK Center is days away, but after a night of watching The Eagles on stage or an NBA game, where will you go to eat? Right now, most of the restaurants in the heart of downtown close after lunchtime, leaving somewhat of a ghost town. So, will there be any restaurants open for concert goers?

Most of the restaurants we spoke with today are waiting to see how crowds are before they make big business decisions. But, we found one restaurant opening Thursday that is betting the whole enchilada on the BOK.

"Everybody knows us. We're in business for 36 years."

On Wednesday, they were making the final preparations before Casa Laredo opens its doors in downtown. In the shadow of the BOK Center, the restaurant isn't just tailoring it schedule to the new arena, it moved there from South Tulsa because of it.

"It's bringing more business, especially for small business like us," says Guillermo Rojas.

But, just blocks away at Billy's On The Square, they're taking a wait and see approach. They have concessions inside the arena, but for right now, they won't have the downtown restaurant open after office hours.

"We have considered it in the future, but for the time being will not be," says Richard Helt. "This building is being renovated and being turned into apartments, so we'll definitely be considering it in the future."

Impressions restaurant owner Tom Butcher agrees.

A lot of talk of new restaurants coming in, extending their hours, and I think they're primarily planning on the BOK Center making it for them," Butcher says.

He says downtown needs more people and more restaurants first.

"If you can't make it without the BOK, you're not going to make it with the BOK."

That leaves the Brady District or the Blue Dome -- a long walk for those seeking an after-concert meal. Or nearby Casa Laredo, while other restaurants will wait and see.

"They probably have to see what's going to happen in downtown, but I'm absolutely sure downtown is changing," Rojas says.

We did talk with the SoChey Jazz Cafe that is right across from the arena. They are open late in the evening and will stay open even later during the Eagles concert next weekend. And, Topeca Coffee on 5th Street says they are hoping people will come for dinner before going to the BOK. Then, they will extend their hours to 11 or 12 after big events.

Several local restaurants have concessions inside the arena, including In The Raw, Mazzios and Oklahoma Style Bar-B-Que.
