A Carney man is in the Lincolon County jail after an hours long standoff with police ended peacefully. Police say the man surrended to a Davenport police officer about 5 a.m.
Police had gone to a house near Carney about 10 Sunday night after a reported assault on another man.

Officers believed the suspect was barricaded in his home but after firing tear gas into the house police found he was not there.
A KFOR television cameraman reported a man opened the door of his truck when he arrived near the scene Monday morning. The cameraman says the man told him he had a gun and asked for a ride but the cameraman refused and says the man ran away.
The cameraman then contacted police and the suspect later surrendered and was taken to the Lincoln County jail.
