The City of Tulsa wants your opinion on what the Tulsa of tomorrow should look like.
It's called PlaniTulsa and every Tulsan is invited to participate. The last time Tulsa developed a comprehensive plan was over thirty years ago. So, this is your chance to be a part of both Tulsa's history and future.
PlaniTulsa is touted as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the next 30 years of Tulsa's growth.
"We understand that our 33-year-old land use plan was due an overhaul," says Susan Neal with the mayor's office, who is coordinating a grassroots think-tank on T-Town.
"There's a lot of things about land use that we need to reconsider," Neal says.
Brian O'Mahony is originally from Ireland. He's now a Tulsan. His take on Green Country?
"You've never seen a city that has a stake in its future like Tulsa," he says.
A future that will be shaped in a series of hands-on workshops. Everyone is assigned to a small group, which then collaborates on, for example, where parks should be located.
"This is a chance for residents here to get in and really decide what do we want for Tulsa," O'Mahony says.
"They're going to be able to demonstrate how they'd like to see Tulsa grow," adds Neal.
The future is now. And, the city really hopes you show up.
"We want all Tulsans from north, east, west, south, midtown, all areas of this city to come together and have a stake in this plan for their future," Neal says.
The first workshop will be held Monday at the Greenwood Cultural Center. It's already filled to capacity, but there are still spots available for Tuesday's workshop at the BOK Center.
